I love winter evenings; the log fire lit, lights on the Christmas tree and a festive candle burning. I purchased the Bella Freud Fairytale of New York Candle £45.00 to fill my living room with a Christmassy scent.
What Bella Freud Say About The Candle
“Fairytale of New York is the ultimate punk rock love song, written by Shane MacGowan, the wild genius of rock and roll. Its harsh and poetic tenderness is charged with romantic feeling and is the inspiration behind this captivating smell.”
The candle has a stylish, understated appearance in line with Bella Freud’s minimalist, cult branding. The matte, black packaging is not typically festive, however it has more of a modern vibe to it rather than a traditional red or gold packaging.
Top Notes (recognised immediately)
- Blood orange
Mid Notes (heart of the fragrance)
- tobacco flower
Base Notes (provide a lasting impression)
- amber oils
Some festive candles can be too overpowering and give me a headache. Fairytale of New York has a fresh yet musky scent. It definitely smells like Christmas but without any sign of cinnamon or spiced apple, instead the candle has a modern scent and is perfect for a more sophisticated Christmas. It also has an edgy scent which makes you want to drink whisky while enjoying the sweet, musky fragrance.
I am so pleased with the Fairytale of New York candle, I was worried that for the price I would be disappointed, however I would definitely repurchase this again next Christmas. I need to try the other Bella Freud candles now!
