We are already half way through London Fashion Week and Lily and I were lucky enough to be invited to the Oxford Fashion Studio runway shows which took place yesterday. Prior to the catwalk we killed a couple of hours in Liberty before a bit of window shopping and then headed to Devonshire Square for the first OFS show of the evening. I always love going to shows where the designers are relatively unknown as it is always exciting to see the up-and-coming talent. Each designer’s collection was so creative (some more wearable than others) but that’s the great thing about runway shows – the outfits can be completely impractical and as OTT as the designer dreams. It’s a great way to show off their skills and we were blown away by the talent.
A few of the designers we saw at London Fashion Week really stood out to us and you definitely need to add them to your watch list as we are expecting big things from them in the future!
London Fashion Week: Ones To Watch
The designer I was most looking forward to seeing was Gonçalo Peixoto and he did not disappoint. Peixoto currently attends the Oporto fashion design school and has already graced the pages of glossy magazines world wide. His collection was definitely a bit of me and I can’t wait to see what the future brings for the designer. The garments were chic but with a modern vibe, as if Peixoto had taken a classic item and re-constructed it whilst still managing to maintain a timeless feel about them. The SS18 collection is available to preorder from Minty Square – I’ve got my eye on the striped skirt.
Before the Runway shows began we had some time to have a drink and mingle with the other guests. We met a fabulously dressed lady who turned out to be part of the I am Kreyol Team and had flown in from the US earlier that day. Having seen her outfit – a peplum top with a floor length train and over sized puff sleeves, we couldn’t wait to see what the collection would look like on the runway. I am Kreyol creates collections to make women feel powerful in and I definitely feel like these are pieces to wear if you want to unleash your inner Beyonce. The garments are bold and demand your attention. If you like to make a statement with your outfits then this is a brand you need to watch!
After a long day standing around in stilettos at London Fashion Week and freezing our arses off by being totally inappropriately dressed for the chilly September evening all we wanted to do was snuggle up into something warm and comfortable which is probably why Parking Level caught our attention so much. This is a collection that looks so soft and cosy you won’t want to take it off. We loved the brands fun take on sporty streetwear and the interesting shapes of the sweatshirts.
