I’d been wanting to pay a visit to The Café at Hotel Café Royal ever since discovering the Sarah in Wonderland 5 course meal with wine pairings. As you probably know by now, I have a bit of a sweet tooth so when my husband booked us a table for my birthday I was so ready to eat all of the dessert!
We stayed overnight at the Hotel Café Royal but The Café can also be accessed from Regent Street. This place seriously loves a bit of marble so well worth a visit if you like beautiful interior design (a blogger’s dream!) Before I discuss the food I must say that the staff at The Café really were so friendly and accommodating, I got the impression that they really loved their jobs – but then if I were surrounded by those desserts every day I’d probably be that happy too.
My favourite courses were the first and fifth courses, the first was a delicious savoury dish made up of a creamy goats cheese and beetroot in various forms this was complemented perfectly by the glass of prosecco that was served with it.
The Café saved the best dish for last and, whilst I was absolutely full up by that point, of course I managed to find a bit more room for their incredible Snickers inspired dessert accompanied by a glass of white wine and a malt milkshake.
Not only did the food taste amazing but it was presented beautifully too! The 5 courses with wine pairings cost £62 which I think is very reasonable considering 5 alcoholic drinks in a London restaurant could easily cost that alone.
If 5 courses sounds a bit much to you there was an option for 3 or 4 courses and you could also choose to have it with or without the wine pairings. We went for the 5 courses with wine pairings because, quite simply, I’m a greedy pig and wanted everything.
I had a bit of a sugar hangover the next day (or maybe it was just an actual hangover) but it was soooo worth it. I’ve just spotted there are now new options on the Sarah in Wonderland menu so will definitely be paying The Café a visit next time I’m passing Regent Street!
